Northern Gateway Local No 43 and its employer, Northern Gateway Public Schools, held its new teacher induction ceremony on March 20.  ATA President Mark Ramsankar welcomed the 25 inductees, who are either new to the profession or new to the province of Alberta, and led them in reciting the new teacher pledge.  This year’s celebration marked five years of cooperation in which the Local and the Northern Gateway Regional Division school board have held a joint ceremony.  “The spirit of cooperation in Northern Gateway is one of the reasons I enjoy coming to the induction ceremony,” said Ramsankar.

Central North District Representative Paul McCann reminded all in attendance of the Code of Professional Conduct while Northern Gateway Local President Eric Frederick read Teaching—A Profession. Greetings from Northern Gateway Public Schools were brought by Superintendent Kevin Andrea and Board Chair Judy Muir.

Messages of inspiration and words of wisdom provided a warm welcome to the profession, one that the new teachers will remember long into their careers. ❚
